Lo-Fi Wireframe
What is it?
A lo-fi (low-fidelity) wireframe is a quick, rough sketch of a user interface that focuses on layout, structure, content placement, and user flow rather than visual design details like colors or typography. Often created with pen and paper, whiteboards, or simple digital tools, lo-fi wireframes enable rapid exploration of ideas and early feedback before investing time in detailed designs.
Practical example
During a design sprint for a new mobile app, the team spends 15 minutes sketching different approaches to the home screen on paper. One sketch shows a card-based layout with a bottom navigation bar, another shows a list view with a floating action button. These rough boxes and squiggly lines for text communicate structure and hierarchy without anyone getting attached to specific fonts or colors.
